Super XL Handmade Edge-Grain Butcher Block Chopping Board made with multiple wood species in a layered parallel design. This board is the largest chopping board I have made to date, and heavy enough to enable it to sit firmly on most surfaces without sliding. It has a steep chamfer along each upwards facing edge for styling and to make it easier on the hands when moving. The board has been rested in a mineral oil bath for 48 hours, then coated in a natural food-safe beeswax to lock in the oil and ensure a strong and clean finish. With proper maintenance this chopping board will last many long years.

Edge to Edge - (L)45cm x (W)32cm x (H)5cm

This board has multiple hardwoods arranged along their edge-grain - Oak, American Black Walnut, Maple, Cherry, Zebrano, and Kiatt. This boards benefits from the exceptional strength and scratch resistance of edge-grain wood so it will happily withstand even heavy use as a chopping board. I do not put feet on my chopping boards, I find they are difficult to clean and therefore become a hygiene concern for a kitchen object that comes into frequent contact with your food. This is an extra large sized board and would be most suited to a kitchen where it lives as a permanent fixture on the kitchen worktop - it would also suit a cooking enthusiast as the extra large surface area is a real boon when preparing larger meals. I find my chopping boards are most frequently bought as gifts and would make an excellent housewarming or even wedding present.

Packaging:
I ship my products in high-security dent resistant packaging, so your purchase should reach you looking fresh from the workshop. All my packaging is either made of 100% recycled material, or is 100% recyclable (or both!).

Aftercare:
Wooden boards need some TLC compared to plastic chopping boards, however with the right care they can last for decades and are much nicer to look at! After use wash gently with warm soapy water and towel dry. Never place the board in the dishwasher, and never leave the board soaking in water for an extended period of time - both of these actions can result in the removal of the protective finishes. This allows water to reach the raw wood, potentially causing staining, warping, and even splitting. Also make sure to avoid the board getting in contact with high heat (such as the bottom of a hot pan) as this can cause scorch marks (a cup of tea would be perfectly fine). For chopping boards, I highly recommend buying some commercially available chopping board wax / oil and applying once per year - simply apply all over, wait 20 minutes, then wipe off. Doing this yearly will massively extend the lifespan of your board.

Shipping:
Items are sent via Royal Mail or equivalent carrier. Currently I do not ship internationally and only fulfill orders to the UK, this may change if there is particular interest.
